Year 2 – Semester 1 – Regular –

In this class we focus on something that is almost never covered in high school English classes, poetry.  The class uses an in-house designed book that was developed in coordination with the Tsurugaoka English department.  The goal of this trimester is to allow our students to go from written English to spoken English.  We have found that many of our students are able to recognize English words on a page, but when those same words are spoken aloud our students are unable to understand them.  By practicing the rhythms of poetry – syllables, rhymes, cadence – our students are better able to “hear” the English words in their heads.  This then aids them in turning written language into spoken language.

第2学年―1学期―普通コース―

この授業では，鶴ケ丘の英語科で改訂を重ねたオリジナル教材を用いて，高校の英語の授業ではほとんど扱われない「詩」に焦点を当てます。この学期の目標は，生徒たちが「書かれた英語」から「話された英語」に移行できるようになることです。多くの生徒が紙に書かれた英語を理解できるものの，その英語が声に出されるのを聞いても理解できていないようでした。音節，リズム，抑揚といった詩のリズムを練習することで，生徒たちは，英語をさらに「聞く」ことができるようになり，「書かれた英語」から「話された英語」に慣れていくことができるのです。
